I want to begin this post with a BIG thank you to Jim Muir and the “Southern Illinois Sports Connection” for the outstanding article he wrote in the recent October Issue of his paper about my book .If you don’t have access to the paper you can read it online. The 2nd edition of the book will have 6 more pages and 10 more pictures. It will be coming out before Christmas…hint, hint. I have “discovered” 5 more GEC MVPs, I’m only missing two. I am excited to see the response from the basketball fans that will be able to buy the book from their local high schools now that basketball season is about here. There is still time for anyone to email me any corrections or information that would make the book better. On another very exciting sports news story for me. I got a call from Oral Roberts University last week that our 1974 basketball team that lost in overtime to Kansas in the finals of the NCAA Regional Tournament is going to be inducted into the Hall-Of-Fame in February, 2026. That was the best team ORU has ever had in the school’s history. It is a long overdue honor.

Picture from the book tour is John Schmitt, long time assistant coach for Bob Dallas at Ridgway. A former head coach in the GEC said “John Schmitt was the best assistant coach in the conference”.
