Led Shawneetown to a 30-1 record in 1955 and a first round win in the Illinois State Tournament. The school only had 190 students and there was only one class in Illinois High School basketball in 1955.

With high school basketball games just around the corner I am excited to see how my book sells at each of the schools in the GEC at their home games. I am still getting pictures and other information from many of the older GEC basketball fans that I will have in the second edition of the book.

A few weeks ago I got a card from the head of the IBCA Hall of Fame/Museum in Bedford Park that they would sell my book in the gift shop at the museum when it is completed next Summer. Bruce Firchau, the director of the Basketball Museum of Illinois, said “Your research along with the photos are excellent.”
I am hoping to find a couple more businesses that might like to take an ad out in the Second Edition of the book. If anyone knows someone who might be interested please email me or message me. The book would make an excellent Christmas stocking stuffer, if you had a BIG stocking. I now have the name of every GEC MVP except three. (74 of 77) I, also, have several more pictures of these players.
Finally, please share this post so that anyone who has any association with the Greater Egyptian Conference over these past 77-years will know about this book.
